BRIAN JONES was born in Cheltenham on the 28th February 1942 .I shall be thinking of him on the anniversary of his death. I want to share this short clip with you which I recorded a few years ago. I drove to Cheltenham to the cemetery and found his grave, took out my slide guitar and played a tune for him. I had to be quick because I didn’t want the management to tell me to get out. As it was, a passer-by shouted :’sacrilege!’ and I had to pack up and leave. As you can see/hear, I recorded the sound later. Now I am in the process of writing a song for him, entitled “Dear Brian Jones” and I will release it next year on the 28th February, on the 85th anniversary of his birth. The melody you hear is the germ of the song I am working on at present. “A head full of blues, a heart full of hope, a crystal ship full of girls, way too much dope…” Rest In Peace Brian.
