Biography (short)
István Etiam is a singer/songwriter from Budapest, living in the UK. His songs fall into the blues-pop category. He plays electric, acoustic and slide guitar and harmonica. István enjoys performing live and loves the buzz of being on stage and connecting with the audience.
His influences cut right across the musical spectrum: classical, jazz (Wes Montgomery, Gábor Szabó), blues (Blind Willie McTell, Muddy Waters), pop (Abba to Zappa) and folk music from around the world.
Between 2016-20 he put out a 3 EP trilogy “Faith” “Hope” “Love” and in 2021 a 7” vinyl disc “Yuri Gagarin” to commemorate and celebrate the 60th anniversary of Gagarin’s historic flight as the first man in space. This was followed in 2023 by “Butterfly Dreamer”, his debut album on vinyl. This album was mentioned in Soundcloud’s Editors’ Picks 2025.
He tours regularly in Germany, Austria and Hungary as well as playing dates in the UK.
He loves the quote by the American lyricist Edgar ‘Yip’ Harburg: “Words can make you think a thought, music can make you feel a feeling, a song makes you feel a thought”.
