I am back from my tour of Germany, about which I will elaborate in detail in further posts. As you can see from my tour poster I played some dates in Kent but there were also gigs in London, York, Nottingham and Liverpool. Check out the video of me at the Dublin Castle in London where some heavy weights played many years ago.
I really enjoyed Nottingham, a city that was completely new to me. I loved it and the venue where I played, called Crafty Crow, a big spacious pub. It was an Open Mic night and I got to see other musicians perform which is always a bonus because you never stop learning how other people approach writing and performing songs. I especially enjoyed listening to a young guitar player who performed his own songs, a cross between jazz and classical music – superb. But that wasn’t all – oh no! The following morning I was looking for somewhere to have breakfast and by chance I stepped into a time travel machine that took me back to the ‘70s or early ‘80s. I couldn’t believe my eyes. This Café was a cross between a sweet shop, an old style ‘greasy spoon’ (workers’ Café) and a memorabilia shop/toy museum – amazing. On some of the photos you can see the signs, toys etc. from way back but that was only a fraction of what there was. All I could do was to order an English Breakfast and wolf it down. Next up will be tales of York and Liverpool!
