Something In The Air in July 1969
55 years ago THUNDERCLAP NEWMAN was at the top of the charts in the UK with their Number One hit “Something In The Air”. The song, produced by Pete Townshend, knocked “Ballad Of John And Yoko” by the Beatles off the top spot and remained there for 3 weeks from 2-22 July 1969 until “Honky Tonk Woman” by the Rolling Stones became the new No1. I, along with David Buckley, coaxed Andy ‘Thunderclap’ Newman out of retirement and we recorded this video at the 100 Club in London on 21 June 2008. If you are interested in the fascinating story of the original Thunderclap Newman, you’re in luck because a book about the band will be published in October this year. The line-up of the Thunderclap Newman Band (Mark II} with Andy as the only original surviving member, is listed below. Enjoy!
Andy Thunderclap Newman – keyboard
David Buckley – vocals
István Etiam – rhythm guitar
Stefanos Tsourelis – solo guitar
Brain Jackson – bass
Antonio Spano – drums
