Oh, calamity, crushed by Carlsberg! I have received a reply from Carlsberg UK, regarding my enquiry whether I could use the words “Special Brew” in my song Red Eye (about to be recorded). Here’s their answer to me: “Thank you for your email. Unfortunately, we are bound by strict regulations in the UK, which we must adhere to. Consequently, we are unable to approve the use of Special Brew in the lyrics attached. However, we do appreciate your interest in the Carlsberg Special Brew brand and we would like to wish you every success in your future song writing endeavours.” I’ll drink to that!
For your delectation, here’s the offending part of the lyrics from Red Eye: “Soon I’ll be out with the litter picking crew, early in the morning drinking Special Brew…”
