Dover Priory Hotel gig 24 April 2016
by on June 5, 2016 in 2016 Uncategorized

It’s just over 2 months since Andy Newman passed away.

It has not been easy for me to come to terms with the fact that I will never see him again. As I stated in an earlier blog, Andy and I were working on my song “Hope” (also the title of my next CD) shortly before he died.

He was going to play a piano solo in the middle of the song, which sounded perfect when we rehearsed it but unfortunately I did not record it. I find it hard now to carry on with this song since it is so bound up with Andy, but I will just have to press on for his sake.

The gig at the Dover Priory Hotel with David Buckley in memory of Andy went well. We were very pleased that Trish Keen, daughter of John “Speedy” Keen came all the way from Cheshire to see us play. This was a big boost to our morale and we played some of the Thunderclap Newman songs that we used to perform with Andy.

A friend and neighbour of Andy is organizing an event in his memory. It will be on Saturday, 17 September, 2-5pm. The venue is St Paul’s Church, Rectory Grove, Clapham, London, SW4 0DX. I will be performing one of my songs and II hope that David Buckley, the singer in the Thunderclap Newman Band, is going to play “Fishermen’s Friend” a great song he’d written for Andy about 10 years ago!

Everybody is welcome and if you wish, you can contact me for further info regarding this event.
